Answer

Given,

y = 2x - 1 ……….(1)

When x = 1, y = 2 × 1 - 1 = 2 - 1 = 1

x = 2, y = 2 × 2 - 1 = 4 - 1 = 3

x = 3, y = 2 × 3 - 1 = 6 - 1 = 5.

y135

Steps of construction :

  1. Plot the points (1, 1), (2, 3) and (3, 5) on graph.

  2. Join the points.

Draw the graphs of the following linear equation. y = 2x - 1. Also find slope and y-intercept of this line. Coordinate Geometry, ML Aggarwal Understanding Mathematics Solutions ICSE Class 9.

Comparing equation (1) with y = mx + c, we get :

m = 2 and c = -1.

Hence, slope of the line = 2 and y-intercept = -1.
