Use the information given in the figure alongside and find :
(i) the equation of line AB.
(ii) the co-ordinates of point Q.

(i) From figure,
Slope of AB = tan 45° = 1 and AB passes through point (5, 3).
By point-slope form :
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Substituting values we get :
⇒ y - 3 = 1(x - 5)
⇒ y - 3 = x - 5
⇒ x - y = -3 + 5
⇒ x - y = 2.
Hence, equation of line AB is x - y = 2.
(ii) From given figure,
Point Q lies on the y-axis.
We know that,
x-coordinate of point lying on y-axis = 0.
Substituting x = 0, in equation of AB, we get :
⇒ 0 - y = 2
⇒ -y = 2
⇒ y = -2.
Q = (0, -2).
Hence, coordinates of Q = (0, -2).
