The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 57. Find the numbers.

Answer
Let the three consecutive odd numbers be (x - 2), x, (x + 2).
So,
(x - 2) + x + (x + 2) = 57
⇒ x - 2 + x + x + 2 = 57
⇒ 3x = 57
⇒ x =
⇒ x = 19
Other numbers = (x - 2), (x + 2)
= (19 - 2), (19 + 2)
= 17, 21
Hence, the three numbers are 17, 19 and 21.
