The nth term of an A.P. is 6n + 2. Find the common difference.

Answer
Given, an = 6n + 2.
∴ a1 = 6(1) + 2 = 6 + 2 = 8,
a2 = 6(2) + 2 = 12 + 2 = 14.
We know that, d = any term - preceding term
∴ d = a2 - a1 = 14 - 8 = 6.
Hence, the common difference of the A.P. is 6.
