Find the 6th term from the end of the A.P. 17, 14, 11, …., -40.

Given, a = 17, l = -40 and d = 14 - 17 = -3.
nth term from the end = l - (n - 1)d
∴ 6th term from the end = -40 - (6 - 1) × (-3) = -40 - 5 × -3 = -40 + 15 = -25.
Hence, 6th term from the end is -25.
