an = a + (n - 1)d.
Given,
23rd term of an A.P. exceeds its 32nd term by -18.
∴ a23 = a32 + (-18)
⇒ a + (23 - 1)d = a + (32 - 1)d - 18
⇒ a + 22d = a + 31d - 18
⇒ a - a + 31d - 22d = 18
⇒ 9d = 18
⇒ d = = 2.
Hence, Option 2 is the correct option.
