Given,

⇒ sin x + cos y = 1

⇒ sin 30° + cos y = 1

⇒ $\dfrac{1}{2}$ + cos y = 1

⇒ cos y = 1 - $\dfrac{1}{2}$

⇒ cos y = $\dfrac{1}{2}$

⇒ cos y = cos 60°.

Hence, y = 60°.
