Answer

From figure,

A lies on x-axis and B lies on y-axis.

Let co-ordinates of A be (x, 0) and B be (0, y).

Given,

P(4, 3) is mid-point of line segment AB.

By mid-point formula,

Mid-point = (x1+x22,y1+y22)\Big(\dfrac{x1 + x2}{2}, \dfrac{y1 + y2}{2}\Big)

Substituting values we get :

(4,3)=(x+02,0+y2)(4,3)=(x2,y2)x2=4 and y2=3x=8 and y=6.\Rightarrow (4, 3) = \Big(\dfrac{x + 0}{2}, \dfrac{0 + y}{2}\Big) \\[1em] \Rightarrow (4, 3) = \Big(\dfrac{x}{2}, \dfrac{y}{2}\Big) \\[1em] \Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{2} = 4 \text{ and } \dfrac{y}{2} = 3 \\[1em] \Rightarrow x = 8 \text{ and } y = 6.

A = (x, 0) = (8, 0),

B = (0, y) = (0, 6).

Hence, Option 4 is the correct option.
