  1. The First World War was fought between 1914 and 1918 while the Second World War was fought between 1939 and 1945.

  3. The First World War was a war between countries for acquiring colonies or territory or resources whereas the Second World War was a war of ideologies such as Fascism, Nazism, Communism and Capitalism.
  4. While First World War was fought in the trenches and used machine guns and poisonous gas, Second World War was fought using modern artillery and machines utilizing more airplanes, ships, tanks, and submarines. Special operations methods were also developed during the Second World War together with atomic missiles and secret communications. It led to the development of the atomic bomb which was the catalyst in ending the war.
  5. About 10 million people died in the First World War and about 50 million people were lost in the Second World War.
