(a) Given,
Volume of cuboid = 1440 cm3
Height of cuboid = 10 cm.
Given, cross section is a square.
∴ length = breadth = x cm (let).
By formula,
Volume of cuboid = area of square × height
Substituting the values we get,
⇒ 1440 = × × 10
⇒ =
⇒ = 144
⇒ = = 12 cm.
Hence, the side of square is 12 cm.
