State the difference in the position of women between the Early Vedic and Later Vedic Age.

During the Early Vedic period women were respected, the daughters were given freedom to choose their husbands and widow remarriage was prevalent but during the Later Vedic period there was a significant decline in the status of women. Their participation in Yajnas was not considered necessary. Their right to property and freedom to choose husband was curtailed.
