⇒ x - 2y = 7
⇒ x = 7 + 2y ……..(1)
Substituting value of x from equation (1) in 2x - y = 8, we get :
⇒ 2(7 + 2y) - y = 8
⇒ 14 + 4y - y = 8
⇒ 3y = 8 - 14
⇒ 3y = -6
⇒ y = = -2.
Substituting value of y in equation (1), we get :
⇒ x = 7 + 2 × -2 = 7 - 4 = 3.
Hence, Option 3 is the correct option.
