Therefore, ratio of atomic masses = 3:1

Total mass = [3 x 35] + [1 x 37] = 105 + 37 = 142

Relative atomic mass of chlorine = Total mass3+1\dfrac{\text{Total mass}}{3 + 1}

= 1424\dfrac{142}{4} = 35.5
