As we know, that loudness is proportional to the square of the amplitude

Loudness ∝ (amplitude) 2

Therefore, if amplitude = 2a

L=(2a)2L=4a2\text{L} = (\text{2a})^2 \\[0.5em] \text{L} = \text{4a}^2 \\[0.5em]

Hence, if amplitude of a wave is doubled loudness will become four times.
