Given,

⇒ sin θ + cosec θ = 2

Squaring both sides we get :

⇒ (sin θ + cosec θ)2 = 22

⇒ sin2 θ + cosec2 θ + 2 sin θ. cosec θ = 4

⇒ sin2 θ + cosec2 θ + 2 sin θ×1sin θ=42\text{ sin θ} \times \dfrac{1}{\text{sin θ}} = 4

⇒ sin2 θ + cosec2 θ + 2 = 4

⇒ sin2 θ + cosec2 θ = 4 - 2

⇒ sin2 θ + cosec2 θ = 2.

Hence, proved that sin2 θ + cosec2 θ = 2.
