Ethanol can be converted to ethene using sulphuric acid.

As H₂SO₄ is a strong dehydrating agent, so it removes elements of water i.e. hydrogen and oxygen in the ratio 2:1 from carbohydrates, organic compounds etc. Hence, ethanol can be converted to ethene using sulphuric acid.
