Ashok invested ₹ 26,400 in 12%, ₹ 25 shares of a company. If he receives a dividend of ₹ 2,475, find the :

(i) number of shares he bought

(i) Let no. of shares bought be x.

Annual income = No. of shares × Rate of div. × N.V. of 1 share

2475=x×12100×25x=24753=825.\Rightarrow 2475 = x \times \dfrac{12}{100} \times 25 \\[1em] \Rightarrow x = \dfrac{2475}{3} = 825.

Hence, the no. of shares bought = 825.

(ii) M.V. of each share = InvestmentNo. of shares=26400825=32.\dfrac{\text{Investment}}{\text{No. of shares}} = \dfrac{26400}{825} = 32.

Hence, M.V. of each share = ₹ 32.
