We know that,
⇒ Area of rectangle = Base × Height
⇒ 36 = Base × 4.5
⇒ Base = = 8 cm.
Steps of construction :
Let adjacent sides AB = 4.5 cm and BC = 8 cm.
Draw a line segment BC = 8 cm.
Draw BX ⊥ BC and CY ⊥ BC.
With B as center and radius equal to 4.5 cm draw arc cutting BX at A.
With C as center and radius equal to 4.5 cm draw arc cutting CY at D.
Join AD.

Hence, ABCD is the required rectangle.
