Answer

Given,

Marks scored in 11 questions of a question paper by the student are:

7, 3, 4, 1, 5, 8, 2, 2, 5, 7, 6

Arranging it in ascending order, we have

1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8

Here, n = 11 which is odd.

∴ Median = (n+1)2\dfrac{(n + 1)}{2} th term

= 11+12=122\dfrac{11 + 1}{2} = \dfrac{12}{2} = 6th term.

6th term = 5.

Hence, median marks = 5.
