A bulb rated 12 V, 24 W operates on a 12 volt battery for 20 minutes. Calculate —
(i) the current flowing through it, and
(ii) the energy consumed.

(i) Given,
Voltage (V) = 12 V
Power (P) = 24 W
Current (I) = ?
From relation,
Power (P) = VI
Substituting the values in the formula above, we get,
Hence, the current flowing through it = 2 A
(ii) Energy (E) = P × t
Time (t) = 20 min = 1200 sec
Hence, energy consumed = 28,800 J
